A full motion tv mount is a no brainer as opposed to a fixed tv amount. It allows for you to move the tv to just about any position and it allows you to adjust every single angle. They are slightly more expensive than a fixed tv mount but are worth it. The key is to make sure that it is installed correctly!

Here are the main steps that are needed to be taken in order to have a proper install:

  1. There are certain tools you will need in order to make this install as easy as possible. Of course you will need your new tv mount, a drill, level, pencil, included screws/bolts, drivers, stud finder, and anchors if not going directly into a stud. In that case I highly recommend toggle bolts. They are easy to install and can hold A LOT of weight.

  2. If at all possible you will want to mount the tv to studs in the wall. Most studs are located 16 inches apart on center. Once those are located, make your marks on the wall where they are.

  3. Once the marks are made, use the level to make those marks level with one another.

  4. Once you locate where you want your screws/bolts to go, drill your holes. I always use a drill bit that is about one size smaller than the screws or lag bolts that I will be using in order to promote a very tight and strong hold.

  5. Unfortunately if you can't only use studs, anchors will need to be used. Again, I highly recommend toggle bolts over screws and anchors. But typically some at least part of the mount can be mounted to a stud.

  6. After the holes have been drilled, the mount can now be attached to the wall using the screws or lag bolts. Use some sort of a level to make sure the mount is square.

  7. Now that the mount is secured to the wall, the tv can now be installed onto the mount. Make sure to follow any instructions provided in order to do this as they can vary depending on the manufacturer.

  8. Once, that is done now you can adjust your tv to your liking in order to get the best view and you can now start enjoying your tv!

Before purchasing your mount, make sure that it is the proper size for your tv. They all come in different sizes in order to be able to handle different sized tv's size and weight. Also, have a game plan before starting. I always advise reading through the instructions first to get an idea as to how things go together as that can affect the whole installation. For instance we don't want to drill any holes that won't need to be drilled, leaving us with a hole needing to be patched in the drywall. Good luck with the install!
